halloween costumes i'd like to see this year

hello.

consider this an ode to halloween costumes. if you’re looking for some inspiration for this year’s festivities, i’ve got you.

making your own halloween costume is better than shopping for a pre-made one at spirit, trust me. occasionally, it’s necessary, but you can always make extra accessories or add ons that make it unique. sometimes it’s also less expensive if you know how to get crafty. i realize there’s a lot of anxiety that comes with picking a halloween costume each year, especially if you’re like me at you get inundated with waves of indecision.

let’s get into some costumes i’d like to see this year…

starting off strong with this one.

snoopy.

you cannot go wrong with anything from the peanuts. if you have a group costume, each person can be a character from the peanuts gang. if you have a duo, you could do snoopy and woodstock or charlie brown.

joe cool sweatshirt or shirt, glasses, headband.

fleabag.

this fleabag situation cannot be beat. especially with them as your inspiration.

ladybird.

an icon, really. don’t forget the pink cast.

vest and cast.

snoopy (again).

but this time as the flying ace. this one is so cute. if you’re going solo and you want to do snoopy, do this one.

eloise at the plaza.

another icon. you can dress up at eloise at christmastime or eloise at the plaza. either way, your costume will be darling.

my favorite ghibli film. and this costume is great solo. you can get a little plush black kitty got jiji. if you’re wanting a duo costume, your partner in crime can dress up as tombo (or jiji).

vampire bat.

i don’t know what this is from. but jesus christ… hot. maybe it’s ai, who knows.

debbie and fester.

queen!! this one is good. you could potentially win the costume award with this one.

debbie wig and dress.

the sleepytime tea bear.

i think this will be my costume this year. it’s so cozy. minimal effort. a reflection of how i want to live my life.

nightgown, hat, tea.

edward cullen (if he were written by anne rice).

i don’t make the rules okay. but all i’m saying is that a twilight group costume is kind of baller.

maybe this?

hucklecat and lowly worm from the busy world of richard scarry.

this has my vote and any true literary book enthusiast will adore this costume situation.

chic sheet ghost.

a classic, but elevated and unique and pretty.

find a white or ivory lacy round tablecloth and pair it with a white dress. boo.

juno and bleeker.

you know this is my favorite film so if you show up to the function as juno, you’re automatically my favorite. if you don’t have a bleeker, go solo as june bug.

juno shirt and jacket. bleeker shirt, sweat bands, and socks.

a sonny angel.

this is another super cute group costume idea. the options are endless because of all the sonny angels out there. don’t forget the wings! i believe the sonny angel website sells costumes. if you’re in nyc, an.me is a cute shop that sells sonny angels and costumes.

the very hungry caterpillar.

another literary costume that doesn’t feel overdone. also, any children’s literature costume is iconic. this one is colorful and will heal your inner child.

hat.

the girl with the green ribbon.

when orion pulled this stunt last year, i was shonked and shookith to my core. i love this spooky story and love her even more, so…

coraline.

unfortunately, this will be very overdone this year i’m afraid. but… this is still one of my all time favorite movies, so who cares.

wig and accessories. coat.

frog and toad.

another clear winner in my book. this was one of my favorite children’s books when i was a little girl. do this one with your best friend.

i’m sorry, but this is my plan b next to sleepytime tea bear. i love her so much. this is such a great costume idea so i had to include her.
