hello.
my friend malissa makes journal prompts each month. as a writer, i’m absolutely terrible at journaling and i’ve been trying to be better at it, but have failed miserably. i’m going to attempt to journal every day this month and use these prompts as an incentive to hold myself accountable. some of them are light hearted and some are deeper and more introspective- a healthy balance when writing for self.
i’m going to share one from july 3 in this newsletter - this month’s wish list
every month i create a wish list, but more often than not (especially after getting laid off), i never get anything. it’s quite masochistic. but i save them all in my notes app diary for the day i’m able to fuck the corporate system right back in the ass and get my big girl pay check so i can get whatever i want.
if you have the capacity to treat yourself, do it. (and not necessarily from my wish list) i encourage you to create your own and give yourself the treats and happiness you deserve.
speaking of treat. i want to ask this community a very important question. i’ve been brainstorming ways to make this newsletter more valuable for you and i want your feedback for some paid subscriber ideas. i don’t want all of my posts to be paywalled, but i do want to add something extra special for those of you who are able to support me. i truly enjoy writing to you every day. one of the things i’ve noticed when diving into my analytics is how much you’ve enjoyed reading about career changing, purpose, etc so i’m trying to figure out how i can expand on that to help you feel understood and less alone <3
july wishlist:
-a new kindle: i currently have the kindle oasis. wait, before i continue, i need to emphasize how much i love my kindle. when people ask the question, how do you find time to read so much? this is the answer. it’s not always ideal to lug books with you everywhere you go. i almost always have one book with me at all times, but i usually read multiple books at once and the convenience of a kindle makes abundant reading possible. i’m also taking the space here to advocate for audiobooks (but this is a topic for another day). back to the kindle on my wish list… i want the kindle paperwhite. do i need it? no. does my kindle oasis work perfectly fine? yes. but i want an upgrade. the paperwhite has an increased battery life, adjustable warm light, it’s thinner and lighter and easier on the eyes.
-gillian stevens cardigan: i’m new to this brand, but i love how minimal and simple their stuff is. i’m excited to see their fall catalogue. if you’re a babaa fan, i think you’ll like this brand, too.
-pacific pacific hat: black, too
-large refillable diptyque candles: i smelled these candles in store recently and i was hooked immediately. but they’re so expensive. they’re blended candles so my favorites were the matcha one and the red cedar and wheat one.
-six bells home goods: cottagecore heaven. nicholas mosse makes some of my favorite tableware. cottagecore black folks makes great candles. i have the early dawn and birch bark one. obsessed with these oven mittens. i’ve wanted this quilt for so long. this brand makes the coziest bedding. i own these pot holders and love them.
-a stay at the six bells inn: okay, they’re not even opening until 2025, but my goodness, what a dream?
-diptyque orpheon fragrance: i own the shower gel and i’m living off of the perfume samples they’ve given me. for fragrances, i really enjoy androgynous scents, and this one feels so clean and warm. perfect for autumn/ winter, but light enough to wear all year round.
-nathalie leone candies: i must find these. also, please browse around this shop while you’re there. they sell the cutest things.
-a kitty: ugh… please soon.
-ossuloc tea: this is one of my favorite tea brands of all time. they’re from jeju island in south korea and pride themselves on sourcing organic high quality ingredients for their teas. i used to work at a tea shop when i was in undergrad (i’ve had my fair share of coffee shop, bakery, and tea house work experiences). i’ve tried so many different tea brands and ossuloc is one of the best. they even have a museum that i dream of visiting one day. fortunately they sell their products on amazon so i’ll share a few of my favorites: moon walk is my all time favorite (korean pear and honey), their premium matcha powder, the wedding green tea (rose, sweet muscat), the moonlight rooibos tea (sweet pear, honey vanilla). this is a little tea set where you can try their best sellers (this also includes their papaya and their jeju tangerine black tea which i love). and the reason ossuloc is on my wishlist is because one of my best friends from seoul gave me this tea as a gift and now i’m all out. so i’m about to go a little crazy and treat myself with this one.
okay, that’s all for today.
i love you.
bye <3
Oh my gosh, I loooove all the cottagecore stuff. How cozy!
monthly wishlists r my favourite things to make every month. i call them my "big money buys" and for this month, i want a pack of multicoloured curly reusable straws i saw at the home section in a store, and a phone case.
