hello.
i’ve been super sick these past couple of days and bed rotting so today’s letter will be short and sweet because my brain is fuzzy. it’s been awhile since i’ve shared a weekly report so that’s what we’re doing today.
weekly report:
Reading:Â
-honey mine by camille roy is a novel that delves into the complexities of love, desire, and identity. set against a backdrop of personal and societal turmoil, roy’s writing explores the intersections of race, sexuality, and self-discovery through intimate and evocative prose.
-the bloody chamber by angela carter is a collection of short stories that reimagines classic fairy tales with dark, feminist twists. carter’s writing blends gothic horror with sensuality, exploring themes of power, violence, and transformation through a unique lens.
-useless magic by florence welch is a beautifully illustrated book that combines poetry and art. it reflects the emotional landscape of welch's music and personal experiences, offering readers an intimate glimpse into her creative process and inspirations.
Eating:Â
-cinnamon graham crackers with applesauce: this combination is elite. it’s also delicious to dip your graham crackers in milk.Â
-pastina soup for comfort: this soup is what i’ve been living on the past few days.Â
-grilled cheese and tomato soup: another elite classic combo because soup season is almost here.Â
-english muffin with salted butter and jam: this is one of my favorite breakfasts. the jam i use depends on what’s in season. bonne maman never disappoints. i’ve been on a blueberry jam kick.
-oatmeal raisin cookies: they could never make me hate you. i love this cookie so much. if you’re raisin averse, swap them with chocolate chips.
-freshly baked loaves of french bread from the grocery store: did anyone else experience the pure bliss from the smell and taste of freshly baked bread that you would eat with your mom as you were checking out from the grocery store?
-frozen blueberries in milk as a snack: have you tried this? a mid-afternoon treat.
(i think i’m going to make a whole post dedicated to autumn baking. i’ll share some ideas for witchy recipes and cozy fall recipes to make)
Playing:Â
-heartstopper: the coziest, most comforting queer show i’ve ever seen. highly highly recommend. the books are great, too.
-industry: the antitheses of heartstopper, but nevertheless, an engaging and addictive tv show.
-let’s get lost film chet baker: this film was gutting.
-bluey: if you know you know.
-practical magic: i love this movie so much.
-i’m already watching my favorite halloween movies: coraline, edward scissorhands, the addams family, practical magic, the craft, etc etc <3
-old ina garten episodes: for comfort.
Obsessing:
-chocolate chip cookies from levain: you will not regret this splurge. i had levain cookies instead of cake for my birthday and it was the best decision i ever made.
-tarot readings: because tis the season. every morning i’ve made it priority to do a tarot reading. some people meditate, i read my tarot. and i’m still weak for this deck. it’s on my (unrealistic) autumn wishlist.
Recommending:
-cottagecore baking: as we approach autumn, there’s no better time to start your baking adventures. i enjoy cottagecore type of recipes: pies, tea cakes, shortbreads, etc.
-this vintage longaberger candy corn basket and the matching candy corn crock
-vintage debbie mumm halloween plates and matching mugs
-fall candles: i’ve been loving this one and this one lately. oh, and this one from diptyque- i think it might have landed a spot in my top three favorite candles.
-maple latte > pumpkin latte: i’m not a big psl drinker but recently i had a maple latte that was perfect- not too sweet, but cozy and autumnal.
Treating:Â
-i’m getting a black cat: !!!!!!!!! (soon)Â
-food magazines for autumn: print magazines are so expensive but during autumn, i can’t help myself. it’s the perfect way to get off the screen and indulge in all the beautiful food photography and recipes you can make this season.
if you’re not ready to become a paid subscriber and you have the capacity to leave a tip, that would be so appreciated.Â
i love you.
bye.
Love the idea of a post dedicated to autumn baking! And thank you for the witchy book recs :)
Maple lattes are the best. Need to my fix soon.
