april tbr, recent wish list items, and interesting articles
Hello.
If you’re looking for a new book, let me recommend a few. I’m sharing this month’s TBR and a few things on my April wish list. Then we’ll get into some interesting articles.
April TBR:
-Salt Fish Girl by Larissa Lai: a mesmerizing journey blending myth, dystopian realities, and the search for identity, all wrapped in the scent of durian.
-Alphabetical Diaries by Sheila Heti: an inventive exploration of life's mundane and profound moments, organized not by time, but by the alphabet.
-Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit by Jeanette Winterson: a poignant coming-of-age tale that delves into the complexities of sexuality and religion in a small English community.
-The Big Book of Perfume by Le Collectif Nez: an aromatic encyclopedia that guides readers through the evocative world of scents, from historical significances to modern day marvels.
-Drive Your Plow Over The Bones Of The Dead by Olga Tokarczuk: a darkly comic and deeply philosophical tale of retribution, astrology, and animal rights in a remote Polish village.
April Wish List:
-House of Bo Oro Verde and Bombon Fragrances: (you already knew the first on the list would be a fragrance, right?) Oro Verde is a vibrant, fresh scent that combines the lush greenery of nature with a hint of citrus, evoking the refreshing and invigorating essence of a verdant, sunlit garden. Bombon wraps you in a delectable, sweet fragrance- a rich caramel, vanilla, and a touch of spice, reminiscent of indulgent, warm moments spent savoring treats in the comfort of your own home.
-Chocolat Suisse candle by Mizensir: I smelled this in the NYC Mizensir store and it was so good. Like a hot cocoa with extra marshmallows on top. Not overly sweet. But very gourmand in a way that made you nostalgic for childhood hot cocoa nights spent with family on cloudy, rainy days. I realize we’re entering Spring and we’re all craving light and fresh fragrances and scents, but this was decadent and comforting and I wanted to eat it.
-Onitsuka Tiger Yellow Serrano Sneakers: Yes, I know these were trendy last year but I saw the cutest girl at the cafe wearing them and drawing in her journal with watercolors and it made me want them.
-Hinoki Hand Cream by Le Labo: I layered this hand cream with The Noir 29 the other day in the Le Labo store and it made the fragrance a little sweeter and softer. Hinoki is a comforting scent that makes me feel a little homesick.
-Tears by Regime Des Fleurs: I’m almost finished with my sample of this fragrance and I want more. I crave it. It truly depicts this season of life for me, especially on cooler cloudy rainy spring days.
-Uma Oils: I’m not typically a fragrance or essential oil girl at all. But these oils are an exception. I bought the trial kit and fell pretty hard for them. My favorite is the Calm. I like them because they’re fresh and clean and slightly vegetal in a way that feels comforting. (Not your typical essential oils in the best way)
-Thifted Men’s Polo Ralph Lauren Button Down Shirt: This has been on my wish list for awhile and I’ve been searching Depop for the perfect one. This year I made a promise to myself to not buy excessive clothes that I don’t need. In fact, I’m trying to do the opposite and get rid of stuff, but this polo shirt feels like an exception staple piece I’ll wear forever.
-DedCool Taunt Laundry Detergent: Has anyone ever tried this? I’m also curious about the Drier Sheets, too. I smelled the sample in C.O. Bigelow this past weekend and it was good. Taunt has Bergamot, Amber, and Vanilla notes that I assume would make your sheets and clothes smell delicious. The only thing I worry about it whether or not it would clash with whatever fragrance you’re wearing that day. Do you remember the Laundress and Le Labo collab? The Rose 31 laundry detergent was ridiculously delicious, and I am not a rose girl. I wish they would bring it back.
-Xinu Candles and Hand Wash: You already know my obsession with their Monstera fragrance. I’m very curious about their candles and hand wash.
-Hobonichi Planner: I’m a virgo, what can I say?
-A Cat: This is on my wish list every single month. Maybe it’s time? I really want to adopt a sweet floofy fat cat to care for and love unconditionally.
