delusional december wishlist and interesting articles
Good morning. Autumn came and went. Have you put up your Christmas tree yet?
Happy first day of December.
Do you know banana? I adore her so much. I was reading one of her weekly reports on Patreon and she was talking the act of searching for things you want to buy vs following through and actually buying them. Basically how your reflections on wishlist curation reveal an intriguing shift in the dynamics of desire and possession, particularly in the context of consumer behavior. The act of curating a wishlist seems to transcend the traditional drive for ownership, characteristic of a more 'masculine' approach, and instead, embraces a 'feminine' reimagining of what it means to desire. This process places value on the journey of discovery and appreciation, where the pleasure is derived not from acquiring or owning, but from the search and the aesthetic and emotional connection to the items. It's a form of engagement with material culture that prioritizes emotional and aesthetic fulfillment over the physical possession of items. Your approach, focusing on the joy of finding and sharing beauty rather than the act of purchasing, reflects a mindful and more sustainable attitude towards consumption. It’s a practice of restraint and appreciation, where the value lies in the experience and the shared appreciation of beauty, rather than the material object itself.Â
You know what I mean?
Today, I’m sharing a delusional December wishlist and some articles a little later.Â
Also, sometime soon, I will be creating a Discord for those of you who want to have deeper conversations amongst one another about specific articles and internet musings. I figured it would be a safe space to have thought-provoking discussions and expand your understanding and perspective on current topics and trends in the digital world and irl. I’ll share more soon. Â

Moving on into today’s news and articles of interest:
Dan Simpson's article serves as an insightful guide to crafting love poetry, emphasizing the timeless nature of expressing one's feelings through this art form. It encourages readers to delve into the nuances of personal emotions and experiences, suggesting that the most effective love poems are those that are deeply personal, transcending clichés to authentically convey the intensity and uniqueness of one's love. Simpson's guidance underscores the idea that writing poetry is not just a creative exercise, but an intimate act of sharing and connection.
-How Jacob Elordi Became the New King
The article captures the magnetic allure and rising fame of actor Jacob Elordi, known for his roles in "Euphoria" and other high-profile projects. Elordi, with his towering height and classic leading-man looks, draws attention and admiration from fans, particularly in Manhattan's West Village. His Gen Z fan base resonates with his portrayal of complex, often toxic characters, reflecting their own id. The article also delves into Elordi's approach to his career and fame, highlighting his old-school movie star quality and his desire to maintain a sense of mystery in an age dominated by social media and public scrutiny.
There is no doubt in my mind that this man is uber talented. I have yet to watch Priscilla and Saltburn, but it’s so difficult for me to unsee Nate anytime I watch him in interviews or read articles about him and I can’t get over it.Â
-What Someone Who Doesn’t Own a Dog Imagines Owning a Dog Is LikeÂ
This is not news, but I don’t have a dog and one day I would really like one so I enjoyed this little feel-good article from The New Yorker.
-Why We Need a Women’s History of the Roman Empire
The story highlights the often overlooked importance of women in Roman history, challenging the conventional narrative focused on emperors and battles by shedding light on the lives of Roman women across various social strata. It emphasizes the need to include women in historical narratives, revealing a more diverse and humanized view of the Roman Empire and contesting the traditional, male-centric view of history.
-What Albert Camus’ The Stranger Says About Our Contemporary AnxietiesÂ
In the creative process of writing her novel "Welcome Home, Stranger," the author grapples with the complexities of her protagonist, Rachel Calloway, a character who mirrors her own existential crises, particularly in the context of postmenopausal life and climate breakdown. This journey leads her to a deeper understanding of narrative construction, where external challenges and the character's response to them drive the story, reflecting the turbulent era termed "the Terrible Twenties" and offering a new perspective on the role of female elders in society.
-How Vanilla Perfume Went From Sickly Sweet to Chic
I told you vanilla perfumes are back. Also Tom Ford is launching a new fragrance called Vanilla Sex launching 12/30. I'm curious…
-The Science Behind Why Some Of Us Are Shy
Shyness is partly genetic but largely influenced by environmental factors, with about 70% of shyness traits resulting from environmental reactions. While some people are naturally more reserved, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can effectively help those with shyness or social anxiety. The interplay between genetics and environment shapes personality traits like shyness, and understanding this dynamic can lead to more effective coping strategies and personal growth.
That’s all for now. I hope this last month of 2023 treats you kindly.Â
Let’s talk again tomorrow morning.
