hello.
sending you a very short letter to wish you a happy christmas.
i also posted a mini vlogmas on my tiktok for a little treat if you’re craving video content.
today can be a difficult day for some of you, and if you’re spending the holidays alone, i hope you’re able to do something special for yourself. order in your favorite meal, watch a comforting film, read a cozy book, drink hot cocoa, or some variation of the above. this year’s festivities felt a bit dull and dreary, so if you’re feeling that too, know you’re not alone.
i’m very much looking forward to the strange liminal space between christmas and new year’s where every day feels like groundhog day- a time when i can dissociate completely, drown myself in literature and cinema, and hide from the world until 2025.
i have a lot of great letters in the queue to send to you and lots planned for 2025 to make this newsletter even better. milk fed was birthed about one year ago. i wasn’t sure what would become of it, by my god, 15,000+ of you have come to support my tiny corner on the internet and for that, i’m forever grateful. this newsletter focuses heavily on literature, cinema, and living seasonally, but i’m always open to exploring new ideas and themes for upcoming posts. my inbox is always open- for love notes, inspiration, a space to vent, etc. i’m here for you.
but alas, let’s get through today. eat a decorated sugar cookie or a sponge cake, wear your favorite pajamas, and get good rest. if you’re looking for a longer christmas love note, check out the holiday letter i sent here.
some christmas traditions i look forward to each year:
-eat a slice of sponge cake with family on christmas eve
-bake holiday cookies and make cookie boxes for family
-open one gift on christmas eve
-make homemade cinnamon rolls the night before to enjoy on christmas morning
-decorate gingerbread houses and sugar cookies at the kids table
-cook with my mom: every year for dinner we make cheesy walnut meatballs, twice baked potatoes, green beans, homemade popovers, and roasted vegetables- a strange seventh day adventist tradition that brings me comfort.
-take a long winter walk outdoors, usually with my brother
-change into comfy pajamas after dinner and watch my favorite holiday film- a charlie brown christmas
-get a good nights rest and prep to take down all the decorations the next day. (i’m a virgo, can you blame me?)
if you’re wondering what i want for christmas— become a paid subscriber and support milk fed. it would mean the world to me.
happy christmas, reader. i love you. truly.
Merry Christmas💗🤗
Happy Holidays!
