a weekly report, book recs, fragrance recs, and today's articles
Hello.
Today I’m going to share a little weekly report, then we’ll get into some interesting articles. I also would like permission to postpone the easter holiday and move it to a normal date on the calendar later in April (as it should be).
Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T.
Reading: I’ve been reading a lot of smutty erotic literature after being weighed down by the Dostoyevsky chastity belt. So Dennis Copper’s Frisk it is. I’m also reading Les Enfants Terribles by Jean Cocteau, Henry and June by Anais Nin and La Batarde by Violette Leduc.
Eating: Soy milk. There is something so comforting and enveloping about drinking a cold glass of soy milk in the morning. Or being lulled to sleep by warm steamed soy milk with a drizzle of honey and cinnamon before bed. My brother came to visit me from Los Angeles so I’ve been taking him to all of my favorites restaurants in nyc. Ohhh, either Sunday or Monday, I’ll write a little nyc food tour newsletter for you.
Playing: Lots of Grouper, especially on cold rainy days. I’m also on a classical music kick. Oh, and here’s my spring playlist if you’re interested. <3
Obsessing: I’m obsessing over the Monstera by Xinu fragrance I got recently. It has transported me back to some of the happiest memories of my childhood. It’s perfect for warmer weather months. (And perfect for cold months when you want to be transported somewhere warmer). Xinu makes me want to take a trip to Mexico City just to visit their perfumery.
Recommending: A warm weather fragrance that makes you feel something. Let me recommend a few.
Monstera by Xinu (for obvious reasons): A unique, green scent that captures the lush vibrancy of tropical foliage, with hints of earthiness and a touch of the exotic.
Un Ete by Obvious: A blend of ginger, tangerine, mandarin, matcha, orange flower, maté, vanilla bean, tonka bean, and Peru balsam. Un Été captures the essence of summer, offering a bright and warm aroma that brings to mind the creamy notes of a matcha latte, embodying the soft, creamy aspects of the beverage.
White Rice by D’Annam: A warm yet delicate aroma of rice, with its subtle sweetness and unique essence emphasized by milky and floral notes such as pandan, jasmine, and white musk.
Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle: A lush, intoxicating fragrance that celebrates the sensuality of tuberose, complemented by a hint of green freshness and creamy coconut.
Tears by Regime Des Fleurs: An aquatic and floral blend that evokes the soft, melancholic beauty of raindrops on petals, offering a fresh and slightly salty essence.
Molecule 01 + Iris by Escentric Molecules: A minimalist yet mesmerizing scent that pairs the velvety, powdery notes of iris with the singular, woody aroma of Iso E Super for a subtle, skin-like warmth.
Treating: A few trinkets and goodies from one of my favorites small shops in nyc - Biggies Bodega.

Okay, let’s get into some interesting articles.
