One or two Christmas movies each night. Christmas cookies with my tea. My favorite Christmas movies are set in New York. I would love to see the Plaza and other famous hotels dressed up for the holidays. Walk by Macy's or any of the other famous department stores with the displays. Just taking in all the sites and sounds of the season anywhere is fun. You brought a little bit of New York to me with this piece. Thank you, Caitlyn. You made my day and holiday. By the way, every one of your music playlists is spot on. I love them! Again, thank you for being here and with great ideas. 🎇🎅🤶🎄
Loved your lists immensely; a lot well known, but a lot new. So cool to explore.
Two bits of music to add, first up; Santa Baby, by the fabulous Eartha Kitt, and The Beach Boys Christmas Album(1964).
Love the New Yorker at Xmas as well as a few other journals and esp the British Medical Journal which has done a spoof on Xmas based research, or semi-spoof. Reindeers do indeed have red noses when looked at by infra-red.
Both of my grandfathers big fans of Charles Dickens and so a Christmas Carol reading part of the day once . And my mother has frequently taken my daughter to the Nutcracker, including to one show at the Sydney Opera House.
Writing from Australia, so an Antipodean Xmas. in my youth, often involved long road trips of 800 -1000 mile to get there to Central Queensland where temp was often 40 -45 degree C.
More recently to the beach; so a lot of seafood and swimming, but still a bird, though often in a Webber, so house not hot.
And last, to maintain an Aussie theme. One of our great songwriters and performers, Paul Kelly, wrote his classic, How to Make Gravy, back in 1996. Worth a listen and read of the lyrics. Sort off a national anthem, and December 21 is called Gravy Day as a result.
And the recipe is not bad at all.
Has just been released as a movie version and so far, good comments.
So maybe explore.
Xmas Lights were big here once but less so now. So many away as it is summer holidays.
Oh the old school Christmas vibes of this piece! ❤️ No ‘The Family Stone’ on the films list? The tip app doesn’t work in the UK by the looks of things…but sending a virtual thank you for this! X
My family has slowly fallen out of love with Christmas it's honestly sad. Regardless, I want to create my own traditions instead of hoping that they'll stop being so apathetic. Thanks for these recommendations makes things a lot easier
There is nothing more comforting than rewatching all of the Christmas movies from my childhood

Sinatra on vinyl with plenty of taper candles is the vibe I wish for this Christmas
