I recently realized I am way too overstimulated and completely unfocused - so I decided to start Les Miserables - I got myself a new pen and a tiny notebook to keep with it so I could savor it. Now with your advice on picking up a new language, maybe I’ll buy the French version too and learn a little French too
Thank you for this list! I struggle with needing distraction but that distraction is often more stressful and aggravating than real life. I have a slew of empty notebooks and journals that I didn't know how to fill until now, after reading your suggestions.
I usually don't like the "get of your phone and do sth" pieces because they've got to the point where they're so reptitive but this piece feels warm and soft, it's inspiring for me so Thank you, Caitlyn. 🌺
Thank you Caitlyn. This is also how I like to live my life. Every moment that I spend not being busy with work or people I love, I find a way to sink just a bit deeper into the experience. That means I stretch, spend some time in silence (whereas previously I would have had music on constantly), read books, bake and eat the dough as you say, open my windows to feel the breeze even if it’s cold outside… Since I started doing that, I’ve found myself being more present and at peace, more satisfied with how I’m spending my life. We have such a short time on this plane, why not let ourselves fully absorb the world around us?
This is my favorite post of yours so far, and I’ve loved many of them. Thank you for the care and thoughtfulness that went into curating this list. Tomorrow, I’ll be making tea and doing my laundry with a lot more intention (and, I expect, pleasure). 💚
It's crazy how many amazing, stimulating things and experiences are all around us - and yet we're sucking into our screens. Even while reading this (on a screen!) I was called to look up and around me. I love the intentionality you brought to this. It *felt* like a screen break to read it. xx
I absolutely adore this. The Art of Living really is about the ability to choose the moment. To be HERE. To pursue intellectual conversation or development over quick dopamine and cheap gratification. It’s about finding deeper connection and falling back in love with your real life. 🤎☕️ mmm thank you so much for this. I love your writings so very much.
I have an exam tomorrow and can’t wait to be done with the studying and flashcards. But I’m also unsure what to do after; how can I enjoy the summer instead of just being on my phone and sleeping. The mini syllabus feels like a great starting point and a nice way to grow my mind while I’m away from academics for a few months. I’ve already planned the books, essays and movies. Thank you.
THANK YOU! I’ve been looking for mindful things to do offline and these are perfect!! i think the reason i find decluttering so difficult is because i do it because it’s messy instead of doing it because it’s my space and i deserve to have a clean space.
