this post brought me so much joy! your relationship with your daughter reminded me of all the memories i have of going to disneyland with my mom as a child. i miss the old disney too, but there's still a lot of magic at the parks ✨🏰
As someone who also grew up with the old Disney I find myself watching the older films any time I am stressed with final exams or life in general. This post made me miss Disneyland and the magical feeling that comes from reconnecting with your inner child.
I was at Disneyland last month with my best friend and I felt the same sort of dread being a Disney adult. I also love the classic Disney era and find its business model and lack of creativity today very disheartening.
But I loved being there. I loved spotting the characters and even getting pictures taken with Mickey Mouse and the princesses.
It is! I got a little bored on my end. I think it requires a lot of screen time to progress in the game, so I got rid of it. But it really immerses you into the Disneyverse and I loved it 🥹
thank you so much for your kind words. i hope creating your new pinterest board sparks joy and comfort- and please book that trip to disney. you deserve it <3
I appreciate your thoughts on this. I love Disney but don't consider myself a Disney adult. It brought me so much joy to take my kids for the first time last year. I especially love your suggestion to make a Pinterest board with childhood favorites! How fun! I might even share mine with my kids.
sometimes i dislike the ideals of the “old vs new” conversation because it often feels like people are just stuck nostalgia and act surprised when media progresses and changes throughout the years but, i can completely understand where you are coming from.. Disney’s past had charm and genuine cuteness to its movie, and overall universe.
i feel as if any bit of theme park has that turning point in their peak years as well. with Disney, it’s different because somewhere such as Universal Studios can have likability to it because of the various content it’s going behind, whether that’s superheros, monsters, magic, etc.
most of this comes from hugely successful films that don’t have any correlation with each other while, Disney’s projects/movies/shows all connect to a certain extent.
it had its own niche while Universal doesn’t necessarily have that.
Technology, as you stated as well can impact it as well. So, its product is more reliable for the companies compared to the essence of just purely having an audience that adores their movies, shows, amusement parks, and merchandise.
i see Disney attempting to understand their audience since they’ve been receiving so much backlash about their work these days, hopefully they find sincerity in their content again </3

If u play animal crossing and love Disney, then you might want to take a look at Disney Dreamlight Valley ☺️ I’m sure you’ll LOVE the game!

Oh this was such a warming post! You sound like such a wonderful mum.
I watch lots of old Disney and my childhood favourites whenever I'm feeling a little 'meh' - it always makes me feel better.
The Pinterest board is a great idea too! I have a 'cosy' one that has lots of hygge and nostalgic photos for me to look at whenever I need it.
Anyway, I'm off to look at flights to Disney...
