I think both have their place! Clean perfumes can feel airy and effortless, but they sometimes lack depth or longevity. Synthetic compositions, on the other hand, can create something truly transportive and nuanced. It all comes down to execution—some synthetics smell more natural than “clean” scents, and some naturals have a raw beauty that synthetics can’t quite replicate. I love when a fragrance finds the balance between both.
These all sound so dreamy. I visited the redwood forest once, when I was 14 and it was quite amazing, though my angsty teen self didn't appreciate it at the time. However, we had a small forest growing up in my backyard and I love the smell of foggy forest days in the spring. Hermessence Vetiver Tonka sounds lovely. I have to say, though, sometimes I read the notes of things and it's a lot of things I like but I don't actually like the fragrance itself. Then sometimes the notes are things I'm not crazy about, but when combined-wow! Perfume is such weird chemistry like that.
Love all of these fairy tale book recommendations!! The bloody chamber is one of my all-time faves.
It’s so good!! 🤎
I still remember the first time I read it when I was nineteen. It kicked off a lifelong obsession with fairy tales and retellings.
Yes! The redwoods are a dream. 🌳 Thanks for sharing all the lovely perfumes. Q: how do you feel about “clean” perfumes vs synthetic?

I don’t have a clue about fragrances but the way you describe them is just so special 💌
