I devoured the Ballerina Farm article. I’m on the fence about all of that as a whole. I’m all for women staying home if they want to. HOWEVER- these Instagram influencers are farrrrrrr from the legacy my grandmother left behind who would have laughed in your face if you had asked her to stop and document and take pictures and videos of everything she was doing for fame, glory, and fast cash. This is not tradition. My heart breaks for Hannah. I wish her life was as simple as farming with the family, it’s not. It’s the same Girl Boss Bullshit in a “traditional wife” costume. That’s all.

Yes to all of this!! There's so much to her story that none of us will ever know, but I wish she could have living her dream in nyc as a ballerina AND gone to greece for her birthday. :(

The trad wife article was disgusting. The author clearly had her own biases she was imparting onto Hannah and her husband. I don’t understand - I thought feminism fought for a woman’s right to choose if she wanted stay at home or work. Why is traditional motherhood seen as a threat to women’s rights? I can’t imagine welcoming a reporter into my home and family and having them write such slander. I love staying at home and having my husband care for me. He supports me as I follow my dreams, I have space to care for my health and our home. We take care of each other, in our own ways. I bought into the girl boss movement and it left me burned out and dissatisfied. Some women want to focus on corporate careers and that’s great. It just makes me sad to see another woman torn down because not everybody understands her choices.

Suzanne, I have so many thoughts on your reflection. While, I 150% agree with you that women should be able to live however they choose without judgement, I don't agree with feeling pressured into living a lifestyle and/or letting go of your dreams in order to please a man. It's difficult to know what Hannah truly wanted because you're right, interviewers and the internet can easily sway their audience to feel a specific way about a story. I do, however, believe that she was manipulated into letting go of a dream prematurely. But again, the bottom line is that none of us know the full story. I'm glad that you've found a way of living that brings you and your family happiness- that is the only thing that matters for you and every other woman, wife, mother out there. <3

Good luck! Remember, the person on the other side of the table is a human being, too. I always feel like it helps to keep that in mind. I was so nervous in an interview once, I had to be coached to read from my OWN resume to give a quick highlight reel of my background. After that, I relaxed because I figured it couldn't get much worse. And then I made a joke about it. It broke the ice and the rest of the interview ended up being much more conversational. I got the job, despite flubbing part of the interview. You've got this!
